La Poupee Modele October 1878
Black Velvet Stole, Silk Apron, & Red Flannel Cape
Explanation of the Needlework

No. 32 and 33. Sketches of the small short stole to make on fabric for the trousseau of the pocket doll. - This small short stole, for which you will ask your mom or your older sister, is made of a small black silk piece of velvet. It is sewn in the middle of the back and filled finely around, so that the back is well and proper. We decorate as cute as possible with a small black satin ribbon, on the front and on the back with a matched bow. One could replace the ribbon with lace, or even by a tiny black fringe.

No. 34. Sketch of an apron whose pattern is also for this same doll. - Once the apron is cut on black silk, and the apron bib is sewn on, we will surround it by a festoon made out of silk ribbon of the color that best pleases. Attach the ends in the back of the doll with a small black pin; to set the apron height. Unless you would prefer to sew a narrow black ribbon on each side, which will form a nice knot behind, on the skirts of the beautiful young lady in question.

No 38. Sketch for a Cape of red flannel.

This is a loose translation of the text that was in the September 1878 issue of La Poupee Modele.
